Abstract

1287283 Photographic development process ILFORD Ltd 25 June 1970 [26 June 1969] 32427/69 Heading G2C Exposed photographic silver halide materials are developed in the presence of an antifoggant of the formula:- where Y is N or CR where R is H, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or SR 5 where R 5 is H or substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, at least one of R 1 to R 4 is NO 2 and the remainder are each H, halogen, alkyl, aralkyl, alkoxy, mono or dialkylamino or nitro, except that when Y is N or CH at least one of R 1 and R 4 is NO 2 . The antifoggant may be present in the material, e.g. in the emulsion layer, or in the developer. The development may be effected at above 30‹C. in a developer containing a hardening agent such as glutaraldehyde.
