Abstract
1298965 Silver halide development process FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 9 Oct 1970 [9 Oct 1969] 48173/70 Heading G2C [Also in Division C2] A photographic silver halide material is developed in the presence of a compound of the formula:- wherein R is H, alkyl, alkylphenyl or -(CH 2 ) m -OR', R' is H, alkyl or m is an integer of at least 2, n is 0 or a positive integer, p is 1 or 2, X is an anion, and Z represents the non-metallic atoms required to complete a heterocyclic ring together with N<SP>+</SP>, e.g. pyridinium, imidazolium or quinolinium. Preferably n is 0, 1, 2 or 3 and m is 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6. Many examples are given of these compounds. The compound may be added to the developing solution, and acts as a development accelerator which increases the rate of development and the affective sensitivity without increasing fog.
