Abstract
1,264,562. Photographic silver halide materials. AGFA GEVAERT A. G. Dec. 18, 1969 [Dec. 23, 1968], No. 61661/69. Heading G2C. Photographic silver halide materials contain in the emulsion layer as a ripening agent a compound of the formula: - wherein each R is alkyl of up to 6C, or the groups R together with the nitrogen atom form a saturated 5-, 6- or 7-membered heterocyclic ring or the groups R and R<SP>1</SP> form with the nitrogen atom an unsaturated heterocyclic ring; R<SP>1</SP> is otherwise an alkyl group of up to 6C which may be substituted or an aralkyl group in which the aryl radical may be substituted; R<SP>11</SP> is H or -COCH 3 ; n is 1-6 and X<SP>-</SP> is an anion or is absent when R<SP>1</SP> contains a carboxyl group. The compounds are added during the chemical ripening step and sensitize the emulsion and reduce fogging.
