Abstract

1,053,587. Photographic silver halide materials. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N.V. Aug.19, 1963 [ Aug.31, 1962], No. 32650/63. Heading G2C. [Also in Division C2] A photographic silver halide material contains in the emulsion layer or another layer on the same side of the supports an antifoggant which has the formula:- where Z completes a heterocyclic ring (which may be substituted) and A is -COR or -SO 2 R, R being alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl or substituted aryl. Examples of compounds are given wherein Z completes a 1-phenyl - or 1-naphthyl tetrazole, 2, 2, 5, 5 - tetramethyl - #<SP>3</SP> - imidazoline or 5-(4-pyridyl) - 1, 3, 4 - oxadiazole, the 5-, 4- or 2- positions respectively being substituted by the group -S-A where A is acetyl, benzoyl, methylsulphonyl, or p - tolysulphonyl.
