Abstract

1457818 Photographic silver halide emulsions FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 24 April 1974 [24 April 1973] 18006/74 Heading G2C Photographic silver halide emulsions containing silver halide grains in which at least 80 wt. per cent are in a cubic form, at least 95 wt. per cent have a diameter within 40% of the mean grain diameter and at least 80 mole per cent consist of silver bromide are chemically sensitized with a sensitizing amount of a sulphur-containing chemical sensitizer and a synergistically sensitizing amount of a compound of the Formula:- where R' and R<SP>2</SP> are each H or optionally substituted aliphatic hydrocarbon or aryl groups and n is 1 or 2. Sensitizers specified include allyl thiocarbamate, cystine, p-toluene thiosulphate, rhodanine and compounds of the Formulae:- where R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP> and R<SP>6</SP> are each alkyl or aralkyl or R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> and/or R<SP>5</SP> and R<SP>6</SP> form an alicyclic ring. Azaindenes specified are 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-, 4-hydroxy-6-phenyl-, 4-hydroxy- and 4-methyl-6- hydroxy-1, 3, 3a, 7-tetrazaindene and 4-hydroxy- 6- methyl-1, 2, 3a, 7-tetrazaindene.
