Abstract

1399331 Photographic silver halide lith materials FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 1 Nov 1973 [2 Nov 1972] 50906/73 Heading G2C Photographic silver halide lith materials contain an emulsion layer having silver halide particles with an average diameter of not more than 0.8 micron, at least 40 mole per cent of the halide being chloride, and in said emulsion layer or in an adjacent layer a polyalkylene oxide compound and an organic compound having at least one hydroxyl group and at least one tertiary amine group and having an oxidation potential of 0 to -200 millivolts or a precursor of such a compound. The organic compound may have the formula: where. A is a bivalent aromatic or heterocyclic group e.g. phenylene, R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each alkyl e.g. ethyl or may form a ring with the nitrogen atom, and X is H or, in the case of a precursor, a group hydrolysed by alkali e.g. an ester group. The emulsion may be sensitized by one or more methine sensitizing dyes, a number of which are specified. The material is developed using an infectious developer containing a dihydroxybenzene developing agent. Part of the latter may be present in the photographic material.
