Abstract

1533895 Photographic dye transfer silver halide material AGFA-GEVAERT AG 1 July 1976 [2 July 1975] 27435/76 Heading G2C A photographic material comprises on a transparent support, in order, an image-receiving layer, a light reflecting pigment layer or means for producing such a layer, and a light-sensitive element containing at least one light-sensitive, unfogged direct-positive silver halide emulsion layer and a non-diffusible, negatively functioning dye-giving compound, which releases a diffusible dye on exposure and development, associated therewith, the material containing in one or more layers, a compound of one of the Formulae:- where R is H or a group which can be split off under alkaline development conditions; X is alkylene optionally interrupted by O; and Ar is phenyl having at least one freeortho-position which optionally carries further photographically inert substituents other than H, 2 adjacent substituents optionally together forming a condensed carbocyclic ring, the total molecular weight of such substituents being up to 120, but where R is H the total molecular weight of such substituents is at least 50. Preferably R is acyl, X is 2-10C alkylene and Ar is substituted by halogen, 1-4C alkyl, phenyl or acylamino. These compounds may be in a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, light-insensitive binder layer, reflecting layer, or image-receiving layer. These compounds suppress the development fog in D min. areas, i.e. those areas which have been fully exposed to light.
