Abstract

1402107 Photographic dye diffusion transfer silver halide material EASTMAN KODAK CO 29 Sept 1972 [4 Oct 1971] 45076/72 Heading G2C A photo-sensitive element comprises a support and at least one silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a non-diffusible m-sulphonamido-aniline or m-sulphonamidophenol which is capable of reacting with oxidized aromatic primary amino colour developing agent to release a coupler moiety which is capable of reacting with oxidized aromatic primary amino colour developing agent to produce a diffusible dye. The sulphonamido compound may have the Formula:- wherein COUP is the photographic coupler moiety; Ballast is an organic ballasting radical of such molecular size and configuration as to render the compound non-diffusible during development in an alkaline processing composition; G is OR where R is H or a hydrolyzable (by alkali) moiety, or NR 1 R 2 where R 1 and R 2 are each H or alkyl; and Y is H or a substituent or completes at least one fused ring. The element may contain a developing agent. The photo-sensitive element may form part of a photographic film unit.
