Abstract

1312864 Developing silver halide materials FUJI PHOTO-FILM CO Ltd 10 June 1971 [11 June 1970] 19949/71 Heading G2C In a process for developing a silver halide lithographic light-sensitive material wherein the silver halide comprises at least 60 mole % of silver chloride there is contained in the developer or in the material a compound of the general formula: wherein R 1 and R 2 , which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a hydrocarbon group or - SR 5 ; at least one of R 1 and R 2 being - SR 5 ; R 5 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical; and R 3 and R 4 , which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a halogen atom, or a hydrocarbon group, or R 3 and R 4 together from a 5- or 6- membered ring. Numerous examples of suitable substituted tetraayaindenes are given. When the compound is present in the material it may be incorporated in the silver halide emulsion layer or in an adjacent layer such as a protective layer.
