Abstract

1396970 Photographic silver halide material having a gelatine derivative binder FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 26 Sept 1972 [27 Sept 1971] 44509/72 Heading G2C A photographic light-sensitive emulsion comprises silver halide grains, a 4-hydroxy-1,3,3a,7- tetra-azaindene and as binder a hydrophobic colloid comprising a gelatine derivative. Alternatively a photographic material comprises a silver halide emulsion layer having as binder a hydrophobic colloid comprising a gelatine derivative and an adjacent gelatine layer containing a 4-hydroxy- 1,3,3a,7-tetra-azaindene. The binder may comprise a mixture of gelatine and the gelatine derivative. The silver halide emulsion layer and the adjacent gelatine layer may contain a 4-hydroxy-1,3,3a,7-tetra-azaindene. The tetraazaindene may be a 4-hydroxy-6-(H or alkyl)- 1,3,3a,7-tetra-azaindene. The gelatine derivative may be the reaction product between gelatine and an aromatic or aliphatic acid anhydride, a compound having a reactive halogen atom, an isocyanate or an N-arylvinylsulphonamide, many examples of which are listed. The tetra-azaindene acts as an anti-foggant.
