Abstract

738,044. Fibre drafting apparatus. CASA. BLANCAS HIGH DRAFT CO., Ltd. April 1, 1954 [April 17, 1953], No. 10626/53. Class 120(2). Double-belt drafting apparatus has a bottom cradle 11 with spaced side walls shaped to rest on the bottom roller of an intermediate pair 3, 4 and adapted to support releasably the front ends of two separate top cradles 10 that rest on the top rollers 3, 5 of intermediate and preceding pairs. The upper cradles 10 are narrower than the bottom cradle 11 and at their forward ends are provided with pins 17 to engage hook portions 11a, 11c into which the pins 17 are guided by the sloping edges of the cradle 11 rearwardly of the hook portions 11a, 11c. When employed in conjunction with a top arm weighting device, raising and lowering of the arm results in automatic disengagement and re-engagement of the upper cradles 11. Removal of the top cradles 10 results in a swinging movement of the cradle 11 which is limited by contact between a projection 11e and a bar 20. Instead of employing the last-mentioned elements, the part 11d may be allowed to contact a clearer roller working in association with the roller 6 and apron 7. Specification 694,272 is referred to.
