[Class 78 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXII] A container A, Fig. 1, and a container-carrying vehicle are each provided with slides B, D adapted to co-operate with one another, the slides D on the vehicle being mounted on a tipping frame C while a winch is provided on the vehicle for pulling the container on to the frame when horizontal and for raising and lowering the container when the frame is inclined. The cable from the winch passes around a jockey pulley at the front end of the tipping frame and is detachably secured to the container. Means are also provided for anchoring the container to the frame C. To guide the container-slides B on to the vehicle-slides D, the front ends of the container-slides may converge or the rear ends of the vehicle-slides be splayed outwardly. A tailboard J is hinged at K on the container:so as to swing upwardly into a position in which it rests on the container. A platform L supports the container during loading. In a modification,Fig. 6, the container-slides B are formed at their front ends with downwardly-inclined parts N continued by short horizontal parts O and upwardly-curved parts P and the front ends of the vehicle-slides are fitted with co-operating inclined and hori-. zontal parts. Thus when the container is drawn off the vehicle manually or by a winch &c. the inclined parts N travel up the inclined parts on the vehicle producing a two-point contact between the slides to facilitate the movement of the container on to the platform which is provided with an inclined front end over which the inclined rear end M of the container travels until it overbalances when a two-point contact again occurs between the container and platform. In a further modification Fig. 10, a substantially similar arrangement of inclined and horizontal sliding surfaces is employed but the inclined parts N on the container-slides B are omitted, the container has a roller W or coaxially-arranged wheels at its front end projecting below the slides B, the vehicle is fitted at its rear end with a roller or wheels X projecting above the slides D, and the platform at its front end is similarly fitted with a roller or wheels so that rolling contact is effected between the parts when the container is moved.
