Abstract
390,774. Field-gun carriages. RHEINISCHE METALLWAAREN-UND MASCHINENFABRIK, 195, Ulmenstrasse, Derendorf, D³sseldorf, and WITTKOP, E,, 9, Kiefernhalde Bredeney, Essen, both in Germany. Nov. 25, 1932, No. 33416. [Class 92 (i).] Relates to field - gun carriages fitted with a divided trail and with a centre support for taking the weight off the wheels, and consists in providing means operated by the legs of the trail for lowering the support and raising the wheels when the legs are opened, and preferably adapted also to perform the reverse operation when the legs are closed. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the centre support d is vertically slidable in a guide b<1> on the undercarriage b, and the top of this support has inclined arms d<2> which are wedged down by rollers c<2> on front extensions of the trail legs c when these legs are opened out about their pivots c<1> After the legs are closed, the support d can be lfted by hand above the ground and held in that position by a clamp b<2>. In a modification, the arms d<2> are engaged between a pair of rollers on each trail leg, so that the support is automatically raised when the legs are closed as well as automatically lowered when the legs are opened.
