Abstract
483,326. Hand-trucks ; refuse vehicles. CRASKE, H. Oct. 16, 1936, No. 28225. [Class 108 (i)] A hand-truck for collecting refuse bins and conveying them to the refuse vehicle for transport comprises a wheeled base 2, a fixed end 4 and a movable end 5. Preferably, the base and the end 5 are provided with rollers 1, 14 and the end 5 is adapted to be lowered to form a platform or ramp for loading and unloading purposes. The end 5 is provided at its lower end with a slot taking over a hinge pin and with a latching pin adapted to take into a notch in the base frame so that the end 5 may be held in either upright or lowered position. Each bin 7 is provided at one of its upper edges with a pin 21 having projecting rollers 23 and with a strip 25 which is adapted to bridge the gap between adjacent bins to prevent refuse falling therebetween. The rollers 23 are adapted to engage a pair of stirrups 26 having hook and stop parts 27, 28 mounted on the refuse vehicle so that the bin's contents may be tipped into the vehicle. The bins may be provided with paper linings held in place by a hoop &c.
