Vehicle fittings; overhead supports.-In lorries, which may be self-propelled or trailers, for conveying cable drums and the like and of the kind in which the drums are carried with their axes parallel to the axis of the lorry, frames are provided on which two or more runners, slides, or cradles supporting drums &c. are adapted to roll or slide and means, carried by the lorry, are provided whereby the drums &c. may be rotated as required. The lorry, Fig. 1, is provided with inclined side members 2 which serve as rails for cradles 9, 10, Fig. 5, upon each of which a drum 5 is mounted. The rear of the lorry is provided with a crane 12, Fig. 1, which is adapted when run rearwardly to rest with its feet 18, 19 on the ground and to be raised by means of inclined planes 13 and rollers 14 when drawn forwardly to be carried by the lorry. The drums as they come under the crane are adapted to be lifted, rotated, and lowered on to the ground, the lorry being moved forwards to permit the lowering of the drum. The cradles and crane may be moved by a cord 21 and winch 22. The cradle 9, 10, Fig. 5, is provided with a removable cross-bar 8. In a modification shown in Fig. 8, each drum is mounted on a cradle, the upper plate 30 of which is a turntable so permitting the drum to be rotated into the position indicated and rolled down the ramp 53. In another form, Fig. 10, the drums are mounted on runners 61 and a turntable having elevated means is provided at the rear to lift, rotate, and lower the drums, which may then roll down the ramp 85 to the ground.
