Abstract

733,293. Valves; fluid-pressure servomotor Control systems. FOXBORO CO. Oct. 12, 1953 [Oct. 23, 1952], No. 28038/53. Class 135. A rotary shut-off valve interposed between two passages 29, 30, Fig. III, has a bifurcated body with a spring 36 pressing the two legs apart, and the head portion 33 carries indication means aligned with the opening between the legs. The body of the valve is made from hornlike resilient, but soapy, nylon plastic and the spring is of beryllium copper. The valve is held in position by a face plate 23 which engages over a flange on the body, and a packing ring 35 is interposed between the flange and the valve housing. As shown, the indication means comprises a screwdriver slot by means of which the valve is rotated. Valves according to the invention may be employed as on-off valves 34A, 34B and 34C, Fig. VIII, to isolate a motoractuated valve 38, to shut off a pressure fluid supply 48 from a control unit 37, and to shut off a flow-measuring unit 40 from access to the unit 37 respectively. The flow unit 40 consists of an orifice plate in a line 39 and the differential pressure across the plate is recorded by a bellows-actuated pen 46 and is fed into the control unit 37. The output from the control unit is recorded by a bellows-actuated indicator 55 and is fed to valve 38 which regulates the flow in line 39.
