Abstract
732,697. Storing gases under pressure. AGEFKO KOHLENSAURE-WERKE GES. Jan. 5, 1953 [Jan. 5, 1952], No. 280/53. Class 8 (2). [Also in Group XXI] In a fire - extinguisher comprising a container for gas under pressure having a stopper 1 which is closed by a frangible diaphragm 8, the latter is severed by a cutter 18 carried by a piston 12 which is operable against a spring 23 by gas under pressure supplied through an inlet 16. The outlet 14 for the gas from the container is arranged below the piston 12 and the gas passes thereto through holes 19 in the cutter 18. When the piston 12 rises after breaking the diaphragm 8, gas from the inlet 16 is free to pass to the outlet 14 by a bore 15. In a modification, a bore 15<SP>1</SP> is closed by the piston. The piston is also operable by a hand knob 22 which may be prevented from accidental operation by a safety ring 26, and is held in normal position by a sealed wire 25.
