Class 47 In a fire-extinguisher in which a powder 9 is supplied to a nozzle 5 by gas from a cylinder 2, an auxiliary chamber 8 is provided which is separated from the powder container 1 by a frangible diaphragm 7. When the pressure reaches a predetermined amount, the diaphragm breaks and the sudden decrease in pressure serves to break up the powder 9. One auxiliary chamber may be associated with several powder containers.
