Abstract

772,673. Compressed gas discharge devices. HYMATIC ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. July 19, 1955 [July 19, 1954], No. 20947/54. Class 8(2) [Also in Group XXIX]. A valve-like device for controlling the release of gases stored under pressure comprises a frangible disc or diaphragm 5 which normally separates an inlet 2 from an outlet 11 and which, unless supported can be ruptured by the pressure of the gas at the inlet 2, and a support 4 normally held against the diaphragm by a rupturable tube 6 containing an electric fuse 8 and explosive material 18. When an electric current supplied through a lead 9 is passed. through the fuse 8, the material explodes and the tube 6 is shattered so that the'support is. removed from the diaphragm which is thereupon ruptured by the gas pressure. Upward movement of the support 4 is limited by an abutment 10 held in the main body or casing 1 by a screwed cap 14 with vent holes 17. The tube 6 which may be of glass is maintained in engagement with the support 4 by a screwed member 7.
