Abstract
418,342. Fire-alarms. TALIANI, T., 39, Via Ciancaleoni, Rome. Feb. 27, 1934, No. 6355. Convention date, March 3, 1933. [Class 47 (i).] In a pneumatic fire-alarm system comprising one or more pipes 5 provided with fusible outlets 6 and containing air at a pressure above or below atmospheric, the pipe 5 is connected through a regulating valve 4 to a pressure storage vessel 2 in which a predetermined pressure is maintained by a pump 1 and pressure-sensitive switch 3. At its outer end, the pipe 5 is connected to a chamber 18 having a valve-controlled outlet connected to a syren 13. The pipe 5 is also connected to a pressure gauge 7, and further, has a restricted vent 17 to atmosphere. In case a fusible outlet 6 is opened, or the pipe 5 is ruptured or obstructed, a piston 8 or its equivalent descends to open the outlet from the chamber 18, and the pointer of the gauge 7 moves. Where several pipes 5 are provided, each having a gauge 7, the pointer will show which pipe has been opened. A luminous alarm also may be provided. The vent 17 functions to ensure periodic action of the pump 1.
