Abstract

995,606. Fire - extinguishing systems. WALTER KIDDE CO. Ltd. Sept. 21, 1961 [Aug. 8, 1960] No. 27490/60. Heading A5A. [Also in Division F4] A fire fighting or fire prevention system incorporates a plurality of gas storage cylinders 1 connected into a common manifold 2, a conduit 6 leading from the manifold to a protected zone and a delay valve 7 adjusted to open a short time after a predetermined pressure has been built up in the manifold. At least one of the cylinders is provided with a mechanically operable master valve 3 to release gas therefrom and the remainder of the cylinders are provided with slave release valves 4 adapted to open when the pressure in the manifold reaches a predetermined value. As shown more than one of the cylinders are provided with master valves 3 which are also adapted to open on admission thereto of gas at a pressure in excess of a predetermined value.
