Class 47 [Also in Groups XXVIIII and XXIX] In a portable fire fighting unit non- inflammable gas from a pressure container 18, Fig. 4, is employed to force non- inflammable liquid from a pressure resisting container 15 along a conduit 47 to a fog nozzle 32 (see Group XXIX), and gas from the container 18 is supplied through a conduit 37 to the fog nozzle 32 for admixture therein with the liquid to form a fire-extinguishing fog or mist, the connection between the containers 15 and 18 comprising a length of fine bore flexible tubing 38 the dimensioning of which are adapted to regulate the pressure applied to the liquid in the container 15 from the gas container 18. The tubing 38 is preferably arranged in the form of a coil 38<SP>1</SP>. The containers 15, 18 are mounted in spaced relation to each other on a wheeled frame 11, Fig. 1, the gas container 18 being releasably supported by a lever 23 attached to the lower end of a rod 24 carrying a lever 25 at its upper end which is operable to release the gas container 18 for gravitational movement towards the liquid container 15, thereby actuating a plunger 28 which punctures a sealing diaphragm 35 to actuate the apparatus. In its inoperative position the fog gun 32 is received by a holster 31 carried by the machine frame and so positioned that the gun 32 prevents movement of the lever 25 to actuate the apparatus until the gun 32 is removed from the holster 31.
