Abstract

897,286. Reciprocating pumps. HOBBS, J. R., and KESTREL ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Sept 23, 1958 [Sept. 23, 1957], No. 29849/57. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXIX] A knapsack sprayer has a tubular frame 1, 5, 9 which detachably receives a liquid container 6, e.g. of polythene, and a diaphragm pump 10 operated by a forwardly extending pivoted lever 12. The sprayer is attached to the operator's back by straps 3, 4 and actuation of the lever 12 draws liquid from the container via a flexible tube 14 and delivers it through a flexible tube 18 to a spraying lance 20 provided with a shut-off valve 21.
