Abstract

856,635. Crop sprayers. HOBBS, J. R., and KESTREL ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Sept. 23, 1958 [Sept. 23, 1957], No. 29848/57. Class 69(3). A tank 1 containing spray liquid is mounted on wheels 2 and has a handle 3 and supporting lugs 4; a petrol engine 5 drives a pump 6 which feeds liquid through a flexible hose 13 to a spraying unit detachably supported by brackets 18 on the tank. The unit, Fig. 2, includes a lightweight roller 9, or wheels, carrying a frame 10 to which is attached a handle 11 and a transverse spray bar formed of two hinged sections 15, 16. A liquid feed hose leads from a shut-off valve 12 through the handle 11 to a connector 22 from which further hose lengths lead to spray nozzles 25. The apparatus may be used as a conventional sprayer or the unit may be detached from the tank and propelled separately. In the non-spraying position, Fig. 1, the spray bar sections 15, 16 are swung back and held by a clip 17.
