862,020. Crop sprayers. LAST, G. H. May 28, 1959 [June 2, 1958], No. 17539/58. Class 69 (3). A mobile liquid - spraying machine, e.g. for spraying crops, comprises a hand - propelled wheelbarrow-like frame having a single running wheel 30, Figs. 1 and 2, which, through a chain 40, drives a countershaft 36 and so operates pumps 44, 46 which suck liquid from a container 18 and deliver it to adjustably mounted spraying booms 112. Liquid is sucked from the container by the pumps through a junction piece 54 and hoses 52 and is pumped via hoses 68, a U tube 70, a hose 74, an H-shaped tubular junction piece 78, a hose 90, a cock 92 controlled by a pedal 94, a hose 96, a U tube 100 and hoses 116 to the spraying booms 112. An hydraulic-pneumatic - accumulator 80, which evens out pressure variations during pumping, and a pressure gauge 104 are connected to the H-shaped junction piece 78 as is also an adjustable blow-off valve 64 which controls the spraying rate for a given rate of pumping, excess liquid delivered by the pumps being returned via a hose 62 and the junction piece 54 to the bottom of the container 18, thereby agitating the liquid in the container. Nozzles on the spraying booms may also be adjustably mounted and they may be provided with filters.
