Abstract

828,417. Mills; jetting apparatus. MILLARS MACHINERY CO. Ltd. July 17, 1958, No. 22935/58. Classes 68(1) and 85 [Also in Group XXVIII] Pumping apparatus, particularly for water supply purposes, comprises a pump (see Group XXVIII) whose cylinder 1 extends to a body 11 to which is attached a soil piercing device 16. The device 16 is provided with a non-return valve 18 and a nozzle 20 having serrations 21. The body 11 is provided with apertures 13 which lead from flutes surrounded by a filter screen 15. Water supplied through the pump cylinder 1, from which the piston and inlet valve are removed, issues as a jet from the nozzle 20 and the device sinks into the ground in which position the pump is reassembled and water passing through the filter is pumped to the surface.
