Class 47 A container 2 for pressurized fire extinguishing agent is sealed by a frangible disc 4 a is provided with a removable head 8 having a plunger 10 coupled to a spring loaded trigger or actuating lever 26, the plunger 10 having a cutting edge 12 for the disc 4 and a sealing plug 13 normally engaging a seating 14, a removable ring pin 19 being passed through the actuating lever and the head housing to prevent puncturing of the frangible disc and seating of the sealing plug except when the ring pin is removed. Upon actuation of the trigger 26 the disc 4 is punctured by the cutting edge 12 and the plug 13 is moved away from its seating 14 so that fire extinguishing agent flows from the container, through the punctured disc 4 past the plug 13 and thence to a nozzle 45 provided with a tip 46 having orifices 47 for controlling the character and contour of the stream emitted from the nozzle 45. Upon subsequent release of the trigger 26 the plug 13 engages the seating 14 and shuts off the discharge of fire extinguishing agent. The frangible disc 4 is retained in the mouth of the container by a threaded plug 17. The fire extinguishing agent may be pressurized liquids, vaporizing liquids, foam-producing solutions, compressed gases, liquified gases, or fire extinguishing dry chemicals.
