A powder fire-extinguisher comprises a main container 10 having at its upper end 12 a powder outlet 30 controlled by a spring-pressed valve 22 which is operated by a lever 37, and at its lower end an opening by which a gas bottle 40 is mounted within the container 10, the bottle being provided with a valve operable by a finger disc 44 outside the container 10 to release gas from a nozzle 55 into the container 10. The disc 44 may be sealed by means of a pin and sealing wire.
