Class 47 (ii) [Also in Group XXVIII] In a fire-extinguisher in which a liquid or powder is forced from a container 10 through a hose 9 by gas under pressure from a second container 13, valves 67, 59 or other closures being provided for the containers 10, 13, a spring-pressed lever 80 actuated by a hand lever 82 operates the two valves simultaneously. The valve 59 is normally closed by the gas pressure in the container 13 and the valve 67 by a spring 74. The pressure gas may be contained in a cartridge or it may be produced by mixing chemicals or by ignition or explosion of a powder and its release may be effected by breaking a frangible disc.
