Abstract

314,479. Soc. Anon. Assuro. June 28, 1928, [Convention date]. Portable pressure reservoirs; sprinklers, automatic; sprinkling apparatus, non-automatic.-A fire-extinguisher of the kind described in Specification 282,679 in which extinguishing liquid is ejected from a container by compressed gas liberated from a cartridge under control of an automatically-released piercing member, is provided with a hand control in ,addition to the automatic inflammable control for the piercing member. As shown, a plunger 5 which controls both the piercing mechanism and the outlet 4 for the extinguishing liquid is held in ready position by a spring 6 which is held under compression at one end by a celluloid or like inflammable ring 8 and at the other end by a spring-pressed locking bolt 9 engaging a hole in it. The bolt 9 is slidable in a casing 10 and is provided with a hand grip 12. In case of fire, the ring 8 burns, releasing one end of the spring 6, and so, the plunger 5. For hand operation, the bolt 9 is retracted either by direct engagement of the grip 12, or by a connection to a distant control.
