Abstract

245,999. Matthews, F. T. May 12, 1925. Portable pressure reservoirs; extincteurs. - In a fire-extinguisher of the kind in which extinguishing fluid is expelled by compressed gas from a breakable capsule supported in the extinguisher by a cradle, the cradle D is arranged vertically in the neck of the container A and has at its lower end gas tight packing K' and a hollow piercer G upon which the capsule E is forced by a screw plunger J. The hollow piercer has deflecting passages H. An outlet pipe M having a double bend M<1> is provided. In a modification, the container A comprises two or more compartments containing separate solutions adapted to react to produce an extinguishing gas when mixed by the pressure of the gas from the capsule. In another modification, the capsule is held away from the piercer by a coiled spring and the plunger J is dispensed with.
