Abstract

732,622. Turbine and compressor blades. AKT.-GES BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. July 22, 1953 [July 22, 1952], No. 20400/53. Class 110 (3). In a steam or gas turbine or axial-flow compressor, vibrations of the blades 2 are damped by means of a wire 3, 4 divided along its length and threaded through holes' 1 in the blades, wedge pieces 5 being inserted between the'portions of the divided wire between the blades so that the portions are forced but closely adjoin or abut in the holes in the blades. The wedge pieces are secured to the divided wire for example by means of soldering at 9. The plane of separation of the divided wire may be cylindrical or frusto-conical or it may lie in a plane perpendicular to the rotor axis or it may be twisted. Specification 587,588 is referred to.
