519,032. Elastic fluid turbines. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., CHITTENDEN, J. P., and YATES, H. G. Sept. 12, 1938, No. 26558. Drawings to Specification. [Class 110 (iii)] In an axial flow turbine having a conical rotor and a conical casing, the shape of the crosssection of the blades progressively, changes throughout their length to give such a variation of the circumferential component and of the radical component of the velocity of the fluid passing through the blading that the fluid follows a determined conical path between the cones of the rotor and casing. To this end, the circumferential component of the velocity of the fluid at any point so differs from a value inversely proportional to the distance of that point from the axis that that velocity has the radial component necessary for the fluid to follow the determined conical path.
