Abstract

731,058. Air compressors. GASKELL & CHAMBERS, Ltd. July 13, 1953 [July 16, 1952], No. 17959/52. Class 8 (1). [Also in Group VI] Air used to pressurise beer or other contaminable liquid in a barrel is heated to destroy bacterial content. The heater comprises a thermally insulated tube t having an electrically heated element, the temperature of which may be controlled by an adjustable resistance. Air is drawn in at each end of the tube and leaves by a connection u at the centre. A pump comprises a chamber a having water supply and discharge connections controlled by a valve d which is operated by a loaded arm g having a quadrant k with abutments m engageable by a pivoted arm i carrying a float j and air is drawn in through a pipe n connected to the heater t at u and passes through the water in the chamber a and is discharged through a non-return valve p and a balancing chamber s. A pressure relief valve v is provided.
