819,064. Forcing liquids by gaseous pressure. CARIGNANI, E., and GHELARDONI, A. C. N. Nov. 16, 1955 [Nov. 16, 1954 ; Nov. 18, 1954], No. 32717/55. Class 102(2). In a pumping apparatus comprising two chambers for immersion in the liquid to be pumped, the chambers being provided with inlet and outlet valves and being connectable alternately with the suction and delivery sides of an air compressor through a rotary valve, the valve comprises a hollow cylindrical body 12 with four collecting channels 15-18 two of which are connected to the chambers and two to the air compressor, a sleeve 19 fitted in the body 12 and having two sets of four parts 20-23 in parallel planes, each port communicating with one of the channels 15-18, and a rotary cylinder 24 having two ducts 25, 26 in the said planes arranged so that they may communicate with two of the ports 20-23. The circumferential extent of the ports 20-23 may be arranged to give continuous flow from the chambers.
