Abstract

582,712. Priming pumps. FARMER, G. H. April 20, 1943, No. 6334. [Class 110 (ii)] Air accumulating in a gear-wheel pump is evacuated by a vent in the discharge pipe. A small-bore air-venting pipe 15 leads out of the pump discharge pipe 14 and its end is closed by a valve 17 operated by a diaphragm 13 subjected on the under side to the pump discharge pressure. When air accumulates in the pump the delivery pressure falls and the air valve 17 opens.
