730,107. Batteries of steam boilers. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSKA MASKINVERKEN. Jan. 6, 1953 [July 31, 1952], No. 420/53. Class 123 (2). In steam-generating plant comprising an assembly of natural-circulation steam boilers which are separately-fired or, alternatively, heated by waste gases from separate sources, the steam-and-water drums 9 of the several boilers are mounted at substantially the same level and are interconnected above and below their water levels by pipes 13, 15 through branches 14, 16, respectively, fitted with shutoff valves 29, 30. Preferably the pipes 13, 15 lead to an equalizing tank 17 which is provided with a water gauge 18 and also a float-controlled switch 24 in the circuit of the driving motor of the feed pump 19, the latter supplying water from a feed tank 21 to the economizers 11 of the boilers through a main 22 with branches 23. The main 22 is fitted with a solenoid valve 20, controlled by the switch 24, and the branches 23 with shut-off valves 31 and throttle valves 33, the latter being controlled by thermostats 34 at the outlets of the economizer 11 ; automatic valves 27, controlled by thermostats 28, and shut-off valves 32 are also fitted at the outlets 25 from the boiler superheaters 12, said outlets leading to a superheated steam main 26.
