In a hydraulic press for die-casting lead or other metals, comprising a ram co-operating with a cylinder 4, the chamber 3 of the cylinder is open through diametrically arranged ducts 5, 6 into cavities in a die-holder 7 for holding dies 8 which are kept in place by inclined planes 13 at the inner ends of lateral spigots 9, 10 driven by hand wheels 11, 12 on screw-threaded shafts mounted in said die holder.
