Abstract

722,032. Stays for hinged articles hinges. PERSSON, E. S. Dec. 28, 1951 [Jan. 19, 1951], No. 30308/51. Classes 65 (1) and 65 (2). [Also in Group X] A window stay comprises releasably interconnected links 5 and 6 pivoted respectively at 8 to a window 1 and at 10 to the fixed frame 2, the coupling at the point of interconnection comprising a spring-actuated latch member disposed in a handle 18 provided on link 5 and releasably received in a recess provided in link 6. The latch member is a pin 7 which normally lies in a notch 15 at the end of link 6, the pin being formed with a narrow portion 16 adapted to be withdrawn through the narrowed open end of the notch when the pin is displaced axially against a spring 20 by pressure on a nut 24 screwed on the end of the pin. In both closed and open positions of the window the pin 7 lies below a line joining pivots 8 and 10. Link 5 is of channel cross section and encloses link 6, which is flat, when the window is closed. Link 6 may be formed with additional notches 15a-c, and the notches may be replaced by holes.
