Abstract

855,187. Collapsible gates. CHETHAM, R. Aug. 17, 1959 [May 17, 1958], No. 15890/58. Class 45. A collapsible gate comprises a post 1 consisting of two parallel laths connected by links 2 to a lazy tongs. On the post are brackets 12 comprising a yoke 11 and a pivot 13 which engages an eye 14, fixed to the doorway. The eyes 14 have a slot 17 and there is a pin 16 projecting from the pivot pin 13 so that the gate can only be lifted out of the eyes 14 when it is in the fully open position. At the free end of the tongs is a member 9 which is connected to the tongs by links 7 so that it is always parallel to the post 1. The member 9 consists of two parallel laths and between them is mounted a spring catch 18, which has a finger lever 19 and engages an eye 20 mounted on the door frame.
