Jan. 29, 1953 [Nov. 2, 1951], No. 25626/51. Class 65(1) [Also in Group XXXII] A hinged door is fixedly mounted on its pivot, on which pivot is also fixedly mounted one arm of a spring-loaded toggle, the arrangement being such that when the door is being closed against the initial resistance of the toggle the latter will pass over its dead centre before the door is fully closed, whereby the door is positively urged against sealing means also provided. As shown, the door comprises two leaves 1 and 2 hinged together at 4. Leaf 1 is fixed to a rotatable pivot 3 and leaf 2 carries a bracket 19 provided with a roller 18 disposed in a channel member 15 pivotally attached at its respective ends to an arm 14 fixed to the pivot 3 and to an arm 16 pivoted at 17 to a platform 6 provided above the door opening. One arm 7 of a toggle is fixed to pivot 3, the other arm 8 which is pivoted at 9 to platform 6, being telescopic and spring-biased to the extended position. The spring force is directly applied to leaf 1 and is also transmitted via the linkage 14, 15, 16, 19 to leaf 2. Specification 681,016 [Group X] is referred to.
