Abstract
920,928. Door holders. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Feb. 1, 1960 [Feb. 23, 1959], No. 3461/60. Class 65 (1). A device for retaining automobile doors in the fully open and closed positions comprises a torsion bar 9, Fig. 5, fixed to the frame 1 cooperating with a member 19 fixed to the door 4 or vice versa, the torsion bar 9 having a central cranked portion 14, Fig. 1, for co-operation with member 19, and two symmetrical arms each journalled near its junction with the portion 14 in a fixing bracket 12 and bent round upon itself on the far side of the bracket 12 with the end of the arm secured in the bracket. The portion 14 engages notches in member 19 in the fully open and closed positions and is stressed in passing from one to the other, a roller 21 being provided at the position where the bar 9 receives its maximum stress. Alternatively roller 21 may be omitted. In another form portion 14 engages a notch in the end of a pivoted lever.
