Abstract

648,999. Hinges, stays for hinged articles. SCHONITZER, R. I. April 6, 1948, No. 9630. [Classes 65(i) and 65(ii)] A concealed hinge adapted to hold a door yieldably open comprises a hinge leaf 20 secured to the door 18 and pivotally connected at 34 to a bracket secured to the supporting structure, and a'control arm 38 pivotally connected at 40 to the hinge leaf for movement within said structure. The arrangement is such that the pivot 40 is at substantially the same distance from the inner wall 32 of the supporting structure when the door is in its closed and fully open positions. The hinge leaf passes through an aperture 30 in the bracket which is of C-shape in plan, and is welded to the inside of the supporting structure. The arm is provided with a rubber buffer 45 which abuts a housing 51 secured to the bracket to limit the opening movement of the door. Projections formed on the arm are adapted to ride over spring-biassed rollers 50 contained in said housing immediately before the door reaches the fully open position.
