Abstract

655,214. Door operating- appliances. VAUGHAN, A. L., and VAUGHAN, S. L., (trading as HUNTER & PRICE). Aug. 11, 1948, No. 21143. [Class 65(i)] A spring closure device comprises an arm 10, one end of which is pivoted at 11 to a bracket 12 adapted to be fixed to a door frame 13, the other end being adapted to apply a closing force to the door 15, and a tension spring 18 connected at 20 to the said other end of the arm and fixed permanently at 19 on the bracket 12. The arrangement is such that during the normal opening movement of the door, viz. 70 degrees to 100 degrees, the point 20 always lies on one side of a line joining the points 11 and 19, while the distance between the latter points is sufficiently small to ensure that, when the door is in the normally open position, the extension 21 of the spring is small compared with its length in the closed position.
