Abstract

1,187,345. Window stays. D. E. C. WEBSTER. 19 April, 1968 [28 April; 1967], No. 18567/68. Heading E2F. A window opening and closing means comprises a lever arm 1 pivotally connected at one end to a window sash 3 which is hingedly connected to a window frame 5, the lever arm having thereon a projection 9 which, when the window sash is opened by a predetermined amount, is located in a hole or recess 24 formed in a support member 22 secured on said window frame. The lever arm 1 is in the shape of a channel with the locating pin 9 projecting from an abutment 8 on the floor 7 of the channel. Between the abutment 8 and an abutment plate 12 is a recess 13 into which a portion of the support member 22 enters when the window sash is in its closed position, the locating pin 9 then being positioned beyond the end of the support member and remote from the pivot connection between the lever arm and the sash. One end of the abutment plate 12 has a substantially semicircular portion out away to accommodate and retain the spherical head 16 of a pivot pin 17 integral with and projecting upwardly from one limb of the bracket 2.
