Abstract

1,201,868. Basic operable doors; catch fastenings. AMERICAN METAL CLIMAX Inc. 23 Aug., 1968 [25 Aug., 1967], No. 40367/ 68. Headings E1J and E2A. A door panel 40 is slidable normally between a door opening 14 and a storage space 15 defined by a door frame assembly 11 and includes upper and lower guide tracks 21, 26 for mounting the door assembly 20 which includes a door carriage 30, the panel 40 carried by a carriage 30 slidable on the track 21 by rollers 33, 34 the carriage frame being open at the side remote from the storage area 15 and mounting the door panel 40 by hinges 41-42 and 44-45 on the vertical member 31 of the carriage for pivoted movement relative to the carriage, the panel and carriage being removably fastened to the carriage at the end opposite the hinges by means of a pin on the panel locking within spring pressed jaws 56, 57 of a "hold close" structure 55 so that pressure on the panel 20 from the inside releases the pin from the catch 55 and enables the panel to pivot about its hinges 41, 42, 44 and 45 in whatever position in its traverse path the panel may be. The sliding movement may be effected automatically by known mechanism 28 and a door limit arm 65 limits the maximum opening of the panel 40. When a pocketed storage area (Fig. 9, not shown) for the panel 40 by an inner fixed panel and an outer hinged panel, this latter is swingable outwardly about its hinges when the panel 40 is pressed against it.
