Abstract

1492876 Vehicle doors ED SCHARWACHTER KG 13 March 1975 [18 March 1974] 10542/75 Heading B7J Sliding door apparatus for a motor vehicle comprises a support arm 1 articulated about vertical pivot pins 5, 7 respectively at one end to the door and at the other end to a carriage 2 movable along a channel section guide rail 4, the carriage 2 having two rollers 37, 38 spaced along the rail which rotate about vertical axes and run on a lip 40 depending from the upper flange 41 of the rail and a roller 36 which rotates about a horizontal axis and runs on the lower flange 39 of the rail the arm 1 being biased about the pin 7 by a spring 16 to its projecting position shown dotted in Fig. 3 in which the door is spaced from the door opening in the vehicle wall, and the being latchable in this position. During pivotal movement of the arm 1 to displace the door from its opening an upper arm 28 of a lever pivoted on the carriage 2 at 23 is engaged against a stop 34. A lower arm 24 of the lever rides along an edge 20 of a disc 13 carried by the pin 7 during such pivotal movement of the arm 1, so that when the door reaches its spaced position; the arm 24 engages in a recess 19 in the disc 13 and thus locks the arm 1 in its projecting position during sliding movement of the door which is now possible due to pivotal movement of the lever arm 28 below the stop 34 to release the carriage 2. On return of the carriage for closure of the door, arm 28 strikes a stop 29 and is rotated to disengage arm 24 from recess 19.
