Abstract
1,027,993. Vertically sliding windows; window operating mechanism. WILMOTBREEDEN Ltd. Oct. 5, 1962 [Oct. 7, 1961], No. 36132/61. Headings E1J and E2M. In a vertically sliding window particularly for vehicles and comprising two toothed racks 20 fixed in spaced relationship on the stationary part such as the lower part of a hollow car door, 1, 13, Fig. 4 and pinions 23 located on the window channel 6 at suitable locations to engage the racks 20 and being mounted on a rotatable shaft 24 mounted in bearing members 25, so as to rotate together when the window moves vertically, the guide racks 20 are curved relatively to the window plane and are formed with suitably shaped guide channels 36, Fig. 3, in which slide guide members 27 e.g. of nylon, accommodating the ends of shaft 24. The track 20 and guide channel 26 are formed integrally of pressed metal. The window is operated by means of a regulator 9 comprising a toothed segment 10 with the window lifting arm 8 hinged to the segment at 12 to allow tilting of the window during its vertical movement as dictated by the tracks and guides.
