Abstract

1536909 Guides for lowerable vehicle windows DAIMLER-BENZ AG 10 Nov 1976 [15 Nov 1975] 46782/76 Heading E2M A vehicle window 5 raisable and lowerable by a mechanism 6 is slidably guided by U- shaped cross-section substantially vertical rails I, 1a, 1b which are non detachably secured to the vehicle door; the edges of the window engaging rails 1, 1a while rail 1b is offset both away from the plane of the window and towards the centre of the window (Fig. 2) and is engaged by a slide block 13 carried on the window. The drive mechanism which may be manual or motor powered operates via lifting arms 7, 8 and a cross-member 9 which is detachably secured to a member fast with the lower edge of the window. The block 13 is carried by the cross-member 9 and resiliently engages within the rail 1b. The offset rail 1b enables a greater free space to be made available for the installation of a door lock 12.
