A vehicle door shown in chain lines in Fig. 3 mounts a roller at its top which engages with a guide rail, and near the middle of an edge is provided with a hinge 3 to which is connected a swinging arm 2 having at its other end a multi-roller carriage which may move within a configurated guide rail 15, Fig. 4 (not shown), so that the door may first be pivoted and then slidden to an open position. In the door closed position a vertically mounted roller 18 engages in an arcuate groove or pocket in the guide rail and is moved therefrom to permit the roller carriage to slide when the door is initially pivoted.
